GLS2012 Scunthorpe – One day to go

As ever these things seem to be a long way off in the future and then very suddenly they arrive.  The final preparations are now taking place for the Global Leadership Summit 2012 in Scunthorpe.  Months of planning and organising will reach their culmination as 160 leaders from across our region come together for two full days of inspirational teaching from some of the best speakers in the world. I have no doubt that it is going to be a great time and am excited not just about the sessions themselves but also the live worship, the inspiring discussions and the opportunities for prayer.

Hosting the GLS in Scunthorpe is a big undertaking and requires a lot of effort and sacrifice from the people of Scunthorpe Baptist Church.  It is not something that we make any money from, so you may wonder why we do it.  The reason is quite simple.  We believe that when a leader gets better at what they do, everybody wins.  They win, the people they lead win, the organisations they are a part of win and the people those organisations serve win.  It therefore seems like a very sensible investment to us.  If we want to make a positive difference in our area, and we do, then there is little that would have a greater impact than facilitating the Global Leadership Summit.  It is a top priority for us and that is why we give it our all.

I am going to be blogging through the event so please do either follow me on Twitter or keep checking back here for updates.  I hope that even if you can’t be with us in person you will journey with us through the two days.  We can’t wait, not only because of the difference we know it will make, but also because we know that we will have a great time as hosts.
