6 things productive people do

It can be tempting when we look at highly productive people to think that there is something almost magic about them and their ability to get things done.  Believing that there is something in their DNA that has made them this way, we therefore assume that we are simply different and write-off any chance of emulating their capacity.  However, while I don’t have any scientific research to back it up, I don’t think it is all about genetic make-up or natural ability, in fact it might not be a result of those things at all.  Instead, highly productive people have developed strategies that enable them to maximise the use of their time, energy and focus.

Eric Barker has written an article, summarising thoughts from Tim Ferriss, called 6 Subtle Things Highly Productive People Do Every Day.  Here is the summary:

  1. Manage Your Mood
  2. Don’t Check Email in The Morning
  3. Before You Try To Do It Faster, Ask Whether It Should Be Done At All
  4. Focus Is Nothing More Than Eliminating Distractions
  5. Have A Personal System
  6. Define Your Goals The Night Before
