3 types of task for a balanced and productive day

We all have long task lists and plenty of things to fill our time.  In other places I have talked about strategies for managing tasks and staying productive.  However, the question still remains how you choose what to do on any given day.

In order to get some balance, Jay Shirley suggests planning a daily to-do list with the following three things in mind:

  1. I must ______________ (a high-priority task that will have an immediate impact)
  2. I should ____________ (a task that will contribute to your long-term goals)
  3. I want ______________ (something you genuinely want to do)

We all know about the tension between the urgent and the important, but this simple tool seems to be a good way of managing that tension and finding satisfaction in our daily lives.
