Each of us is made differently and will bring varying gifts and skills to bear in our leadership role. That said, there are some key topics that any senior leader must recognise as their responsibility and ensure that everyone is clear on them. That is not to say the leader defines them in isolation or tries to implement them alone; leaders build teams. However, achieving and maintaining organisational clarity, through whatever process, is a key task for the leader of an organisation.
Ron Edmondson identifies four key tasks that a leader must pay attention to:
- Vision – where are we going?
- Values – how will we behave on the way?
- Victories – what does success look like?
- Velocity – how fast or slow will we pursue various goals?
Patrick Lencioni also has a lot to say about the important of organisation clarity.
